My grand father in Australia was a carpenter by trade. Back then they often did window glazing or repairs. In addition to framing and roofing repairs windows were single pane, puttied into wood frame.
Somehow I ended up with his glass cutter (of all the grandsons I was the only glazier- apprenticing glazier when he was alive, so that probably had something to do with it.) It is an old diamond. Unlike the hard carbide wheels that we use now to score glass. I tried using Grandpa's diamond cutter and determined that a nail scratching across glass would probably do a better job!
